Global Entrepreneurship Week in South Devon - 2009

The events programme for Global Entrepreneurship Week in South Devon is organised by South Devon College, South West Innovation Centres, Torbay Development Agency and the Herald Express.

Although best known as anchor of BBC News24 and BBC Points West, Susan Osman's media experience also includes BBC2, BSkyB, ITN, HTV, Channel 4, Radio 4, Radio Bristol and GWR

Her wealth of broadcasting and journalism experience, combined with her early career as a qualified speech and drama teacher, make Susan one of the country’s leading media trainers.

A previous regional winner of the Variety Club Personality of the year, Susan is also an ordained interfaith minister and patron of more than twenty charities in the West Co

A finalist of the 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, Rob founded his ‘Grobags’ business in 2000 with his wife Ouvrielle. The company has since sold over 2 million Grobags, has a turnover of £10m and employs 35 people at their HQ in Ashburton.

‘Grobags’ - special sleeping bags for babies - have changed the way that babies are put to bed in the UK and helped millions of parents enjoy a good night’s sleep!

Rob says the key to their success is down to innovative product design and excellent marketing.

For the past 10 years as Chief Executive of Bishop Fleming, Brian Payne has been the architect of the company’s rise to national recognition, achieving ‘Top 50’ Accountancy and Business status in the UK.

With over 5,000 clients, Brian has the opportunity to see at first hand the critical elements that make one business fail while another succeeds.

Brian believes in the power of a clear vision to drive business forward together with developing people and being positive all the time.

This event is for schools in the Torbay area. Students have to design a marketing campaign for a local business involving many aspects of advertising including a radio advert.

Matt will outline the work of Devon School for Social Entrepreneurs in supporting pioneering individuals who act entrepreneurially for social benefit and positive change, rather than personal profit.

Devon SSE will be holding interviews in November for its first learning programme, which runs from January to December 2010.
